A person named A Pramod, a native of Kerala who allegedly threw acid on Jisha Shaji, a nurse working in Apollo Hospital, Banjara Hills, on May 10 at around 5:30pm while she was going to her hostel from the hospital, was arrested today.
The accused allegedly followed her and poured acid on her from the back. She was immediately admitted to the hospital.
Many police teams had plunged into action to nab the accused upon knowing of the attack. As the victim identified the accused as a Keralite, a special team visited the state, and Palakkad district in it, and took him into custody in Attipadi village, 80 km from Palakkad.
The Banjara Hills police registered a case under Section 326 (A) of the IPC and sent Pramod to judicial remand.
The reason for the attack is said to be Shaji refusing Pramod's proposal to marry her. Incensed by the rejection he had attacked her with acid, she said.
