TGSRTC Managing Director V C Sajjanar today said that strict legal action would be taken against anyone involved in attacks on RTC staff, and that rowdy sheets would be opened against the accused with the cooperation of the police department.
Sajjanar was speaking after visiting the Bandlaguda depot driver Vidya Sagar, who was assaulted and is currently undergoing treatment at Tarnaka RTC Hospital. He inquired about the driver's health and the circumstances of the attack. Sagar was assured of full support from the TGSRTC and advised not to worry.
Detailing the incident, Sajjanar said that it arose after a pregnant woman died after her bike skidded and fell under an RTC bus operating on route number 300 covering Mehdipatnam to L B Nagar. "When the door of a car parked on the roadside suddenly opened, the bike lost balance and fell under the rear tyres of the bus. The accident occurred on June 19 near Attapur Pillar No 198. Although driver Vidya Sagar was not at fault, some individuals attacked him indiscriminately, used abusive language, and beat him severely. RTC constables Bhaskar and Mufkar Ali, who were returning home after duty, took the injured driver to the local police station and then to the RTC Hospital in Tarnaka," he said.
Sajjanar reiterated that the driver bore no responsibility for the accident, and expressed deep concern over the attacks on TGSRTC employees in the course of performing their duties. He said that the management would not tolerate such assaults that harmed the dignity and mental well-being of its staff, and assured the staff that strict legal action would be taken against the culprits.
Based on a complaint by RTC officials, the Attapur police under the Cyberabad Commissionerate registered a case against the attackers under Sections 121(1), 126(2), 115(2), 352 and 351(2) of the IPC.
