Amara Raja Batteries Limited (ARBL), a leading industrial and automotive battery major in India, is going to invest Rs 9,500 crore in Telangana over ten years.
Jayadev Galla, Chairman & Managing Director of the company, announced this in the presence of Principal Secretary of Industry & Commmerce Jayesh Ranjan and other dignitaries from the industry.
ARBL also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Telangana in this regard.
ARBL would set up a Lithium Cell Giga Factory with an ultimate capacity of 16 GWh and a battery pack assembly unit of up to 5 GWh, and the facility would come up at Mahabubnagar, IT & Industries Minister K T Rama Rao tweeted separately.
The company had on November 3 announced the incorporation of a subsidiary named Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies Pvt Ltd. ARBL has been working on Li-ion cell chemistries specifically suited for the Indian sub-continent conditions, and already supplies lithium battery packs and chargers to some 2-and 3-wheeler OEMs.
