85,000 2BHK Units For Poor By December: KTR

Municipal Administration and Industries minister K T Rama Rao today said that the government would offer as many as 85,000 free 2BHK housing units to the poor by December 2020.
The minister held a long meeting on the 2BHK scheme and instructed the officials to finalise the beneficiaries. The guidelines for finalising the beneficiaries would be released in a few days, he told them.
Speaking on the occasion, KTR claimed that the scheme taken up by the TRS government in Hyderabad had few parallels, and that the government was spending Rs 9,700 cr to offer the 85,000 houses.
Work on about 1 lakh houses had been started, he said - 4,000 units each in 24 segments in the city. Most of the houses were nearing completion, he claimed.
"We have asked the officials to complete the construction quickly," he said.
He directed the officials to also ensure that facilities like water and power supply, drainage, roads and others were also in place in time.
Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin, Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar, GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar, EVDM Director Viswajit Kampati & the concerned district Collectors participated in the meeting.
