Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao today stated that the two-bedroom houses built near Hyderabad's historic Hussain Sagar would be inaugurated soon.
He claimed that though the area was once a slum, it had now been turned into a residential area with lakefront houses for the poor by the state government.
Taking to his Twitter, the minister said that a total of 330 units of 2BHK houses had been constructed for the poor of the city in the area.
The post reads, "Delighted & proud to be handing over 330 of these lake view 2BHK homes built under #Telangana Govt's #DignityHousing program. Thanks to Hon'ble CM KCR Garu, an area that was a slum, has now been redeveloped & built in the heart of Hyderabad overlooking the famous Hussain Sagar (sic)."
Lauding the housing scheme, KTR added that the state government had constructed the housing units for the poor who could now avail themselves of well-equipped houses for free. He said that the government had been spending huge funds on the free housing scheme so that it could turn its vision of providing housing to the economically disadvantaged sections into a reality, and that it was doing so to ensure that they could all live their lives with self-respect.
