The YSR Congress Party alleged the TDP government was continuing with its anti-worker policies and showing undue favour to privatization in Andhra Pradesh.
The YSR Congress Party said that the TDP government was continuing with its anti-worker policies and showing undue favour to privatization, and also demanded a roll back of the oil price hike which would burden all sections of society.
"Though the global prices of crude oil drastically fell, the central and state governments have increased the prices of petrol and diesel, which will have a spiralling effect on the economy, and we demand a rollback of the hike," party official spokesperson Jogi Ramesh told reporters on Friday.
"While the prices fall in dollars in the international markets, they are reduced in paise here, but when the prices go up in the international markets, they are passed on fully to the consumer with VAT and other taxes in addition. The price of crude oil per barrel was $104.97 when the NDA came to power, and has now fallen to $59.63, but the difference does not reflect in the petrol and diesel prices, which have in fact only been increasing constantly," he alleged.
Chandrababu Naidu speaking on the occasion of May Day with regard to the welfare of workers was ridiculous as his government had been following the path of privatization vigorously, Ramesh scoffed. "He assured before the elections that the employees in the unorganized sector would get jobs after the TDP got to power, but on the contrary many workers lost jobs in the Anganwadi kendras and under the Rythumitra scheme."
"His tall claims at Visakhapatnam that Rs 37,000 crores would come in as investments have no substance as he has also said that the investments would create 72,000 new jobs which translates to two jobs for Rs 1 crore," Ramesh added.
On the High Court verdict in favour of Thulluru's farmers, Ramesh said, "We welcome the verdict. The farmers who are not willing to part with their land always have the support of our party." (INN)
