Demanding the suspension and arrest of the Giddaluru Sub-Inspector for his high-handed behavior, the YSR Congress has said that the TDP government was misusing the official machinery to settle political scores.
"The SI behaved in a very rude manner in the police station, which resulted in the death of our party leader Bhaskar Reddy. We demand that he be immediately suspended and arrested," Party Giddaluru MLA M Ashok Reddy told reporters on Friday.
A representation was made to this effect to the DGP, he said, adding that false cases were being foisted upon YSRCP workers across Andhra Pradesh at the behest of the TDP government.
The Giddaluru incident showed the highhandedness of the SI, who behaved in a very irrational manner and beat up a family following a tussle on a trivial issue, he alleged. When Bhasker Reddy, who was the chief of the cooperative society, went to the police station to defuse the situation, the SI behaved in a very rude manner, resulting in Bhasker Reddy's death, Ashok Reddy said.
"I went to the police station and held a peaceful dharna, and demanded the suspension of the SI. The police in turn have booked a case of destruction of government property (setting a police jeep ablaze). While we are worried about the death of our leader, the police have been pursuing the case of jeep burning.
"We have told them to investigate the two cases separately, but nothing has been done so far. We have brought the issue to the notice of the higher-ups," Ashok Reddy said, adding that YSR Congress Party cadre were being implicated in false cases across the State. (INN)
