Jagan Supports Telangana Statehood

Y S Jaganmohan Reddy reportedly took a pro-Telangana stand, and is garnering support for himself in the region.
Hyderabad | 24th May 2011
Taking advantage of the internal conflicts raging within the Congress, and the self-centered attitude of KCR that is reportedly ticking off the Telangana Congress leaders, Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has announced a pro-Telangana stand.

If reports are to be believed, promising T Congress leaders that he will not hesitate to tie-up with the Telangana Rashrta Samithi (TRS) during legislative elections, the Congress nemesis is hanging carrots of plum ministerial posts in front of the Telangana leaders.

Telangana Congress politicos, according to sources, refrained from quitting the Congress because the TRS wasn't allowing the Reddy community to gain a strong-hold in the controversial region. With Jagan promising them a political future in the Telangana region, a couple of Congress members have already jumped ship.

It has been reported that the YSR Congress Party chief is appointing a Reddy to convene meetings in each of the 10 Telangana districts.

Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had earlier opposed the formation of Telangana, and his present deviation from that stand may prove to be a death blow for the Congress pary in the state.

Having lost all hope of faring well in the Seemandhra region after the landslide victory of Jagan in the Kadapa by-elections, Congress members had intended to consolidate their position in the Telangana region by convincing Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy to declare a pro-T stand.

Some Congress leaders had even publicly expressed fear that their party would be doomed if Jagan announced a pro-Telangana stand before they do.
