In a significant development, YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy called upon film actor and former Rajya Sabha MP Mohan Babu, at the latter's residence in Jubilee Hills, on Sunday. Jagan was accompanied with his wife Bharathi.
Although Jagan avoided the media, talking to reporters later, Mohan Babu said that the visit was related to family relations.
It may be mentioned here that Jagan's cousin Viranaca is married to Mohan Babu's elder son Manchu Vishnu, and the couple was recently blessed with twins.
Mohan Babu clarified that Jagan's visit was not political in nature. However, he said he would disclose the details of what transpired during the meeting, at an appropriate time.
It may be recalled that Mohan Babu had recently made an
announcement about his comeback into active politics. And since Chiranjeevi is in the Congress, Mohan Babu is not likely to sail with the ruling party.
Similarly, he has strained relations with Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu.
Therefore, it is being speculated that he might support the YSR Congress. However, the possibility of Mohan Babu joining the YSR Congress looks remote, since he might have generation-gap issues working working under Jagan's leadership.
Then again, Jagan's visit to Mohan Babu before the by-elections is likely to be of some significance. (INN)
