Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan today participated in Independence Day celebrations in Kakinada on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day.
He hoisted the national flag at the Kakinada Police Parade Grounds, and then accepted the police salute.
Addressing the people on the occasion, he said that the law and order situation in the State had deteriorated completely under the previous YSRCP government.
"If there is no law and order, no one will come forward to invest in the State," he said. "Our government is taking maintaining law and order effectively as a prestige issue. And no one will be spared if anyone touches any girls or women in the State with any ill intention. The same thing was made clear in the conference of the Collectors and SPs recently."
He also lamented how the financial situation of the State had completely deteriorated under the previous YSRCP government. "No projects were laid with pipes and no drinking water was provided under the Jal Jeevan Mission but the previous government constructed luxury buildings like Rishikonda Palace even though the financial situation of the State was very bad," he said.
He added that providing employment opportunities to the youth in the State was a top priority for his government, and that it would be done not in words but in deeds.
