Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today alleged that the drug, ganja and rice mafia had increased in the State during the tenure of the previous government.
At the two-day Collectors' conference, he instructed the Collectors to take strict action against the mafia, and said that every officer needed to work seriously to crack down on them, sparing no member.
Naidu said that many mistakes had been made during the previous regime in ways that could jeopardize the future of the State. "I also have anguish, pain, bitterness and anger at the previous regime. But at the same time I have to be careful - otherwise the situation will be even more demoralizing. But I'm not compromising anywhere. All of you too have to be careful. You also need to increase your efficiency. The wrongdoers should be punished under the law under any circumstances. The onus is on now on this government to ensure that mistakes are not made. We once again request all of you to make a note of that. We are trying hard to put the State back on track, which was derailed during the previous regime," the CM said.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan alleged that the previous government's rule had troubled everyone. He asked the Collectors what they were doing when so many mistakes were taking place in the State. Kalyan said that the Collectors had a key responsibility in leading the State towards development. "The previous government had troubled all of us a lot. There are so many IAS officers. Why aren't they doing something about it? We are very upset," the Deputy CM said.
Moving on to development works, Naidu explained to the Collectors about Amaravathi and the Polavaram project constructions, as well as Vision 2047. The CM said that his government has started to focus on investments within just six months after coming to power, and that during the recent visit of the State's IT Minister to the US, Google had offered to invest in Visakhapatnam.
