Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan today took serious note of the smuggling of ration rice at Kakinada port.
He personally went to the Stella El Panama ship, where 640 tons of rice were seized for transportation about nine nautical miles into the sea.
Speaking with the media on the occasion, Kalyan asked which officials had supplied the 38,000 metric tonnes of rice on board the ship, and asked the officials what they were doing when such a large quantity of rice was being transported from the port and taken out at will.
He asserted that action would to be taken against those involved in the smuggling of rice.
The Deputy CM also expressed his displeasure with local TDP MLA Vanamadi Kondababu for not taking action against the irregularities. He asked the MLA why he didn't raise the issue of the irregularities in the Assembly.
