Won't Interfere In Son's Case: Ravela Kishore Babu
Andhra Pradesh minister Ravela Kishore Babu said he would not interfere in the case filed against his son Susheel under the Nirbhaya Act for sexual assault.
Andhra Pradesh minister Ravela Kishore Babu today said that he would not interfere in any manner in the case filed against his son Susheel under the Nirbhaya Act by the Banjara Hills police.
The minister, who is in Hyderabad connection with the Assembly session beginning on Saturday, said that the Telangana police were investigating the case, and that the investigation would reveal whether his son was indeed involved in the incident.
"I won't support anybody involved in grave crimes like this. I have great respect for and trust in the law and the Constitution. There is no need for charges and counter-charges on this issue," he added.
Meanwhile, women's organizations strongly condemned the incident and demanded the arrest of Susheel, the son of the minister charged with sexual assault.
For those who came in late, a 20-year-old teacher named Fathima Begum had filed a police complaint alleging that an unknown person (later identified as Ravela Susheel) and his driver Ramesh had misbehaved with her while she was returning home from the school she taught at, first passing lewd comments from their SUV and then actually trying to drag her into the vehicle. Her husband who were nearby and local passersby then chased and stopped the vehicle, and thrashed the duo inside it, before the police landed up and took charge of the two accused.
