Nirbhaya Case Against Son Of AP Minister
Ravela Susheel, son of Andhra Pradesh minister Ravela Kishore Babu, was charged under the Nirbhaya Act for sexually assaulting a teacher on Thursday evening.
Ravela Susheel, son of Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Minister Ravela Kishore Babu, was charged under Section 41A of the CrPC of the Nirbhaya Act on Saturday by the Banjara Hills police for sexually assaulting a teacher on Thursday evening.
It may be recalled that the victim, a 20-year-old teacher named Fathima Begum, had filed a police complaint alleging that an unknown person (later identified as Ravela Susheel) and his driver Ramesh had misbehaved with her while she was returning home from the school she taught at, first passing lewd comments from their SUV and then actually trying to drag her into the vehicle. Her husband who were nearby and local passersby then chased and stopped the vehicle, and thrashed the duo inside it, before the police landed up and took charge of the two accused.
Though initially the police had registered a case only against the driver, they later included Susheel's name in the FIR following pressure from the victim's relatives and also a media outcry.
A notice was served at Susheel's residence asking him to appear before the police for questioning, but Susheel is reportedly absconding. The police also state they are trying to get in touch with minister Ravela Kishore Babu.
