The Democratic Cultural Forum (DCF), a forum of several students' unions, today announced that it had celebrated beef festival in the hostels due to arrests, conditions and court directions.
The DCF released photos and videos of the beef festival celebrations held in the hostel rooms of the Osmania University on Thursday.
Tension prevailed in the university today as the police deployed a huge force on the campus to thwart the festival.
The police detained several students when they tried to organize the festival in the university premises.
Some unidentified persons indulged in stone-pelting at RTC buses, resulting in the destruction of their window panes, at Vidyanagar and Nallakunta, Ashok Nagar, RTC Crossroads and Langar House.
Near the NCC Gate, commuters faced a bitter situation when some miscreants hurled stones at the bus in which they were traveling from Uppal to Mehdipatnam. The bus driver lodged a complaint with the police station at NCC Gate. The police suspect that the attack was in relation to the beef festival. They raided Triveni Hostel at NCC and arrested several students.
The police also closed the roads to the Osmania University from all corners. They also detained the activists of the Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal and Gau Samrakshana Samithi who tried to enter the campus to obstruct the proposed festival.
