Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao on Monday demanded that the Telangana government officially celebrate the birth anniversary of freedom fighter late Konda Lakshman Bapuji.
Speaking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office, VHR said that Bapuji was a Telangana ideologue and had served as an inspiration for the movement seeking statehood for Telangana.
He requested Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to announce the official celebration of Bapuji's birthday as it was done in the case of Prof Jayashankar.
VHR also demanded that chapters on the lives of freedom fighters like Prof Jayashankar and Bapuji should be included in school syllabi to educate the younger generations about the struggles and sacrifices made to achieve Telangana.
The Rajya Sabha MP also claimed that the BJP-led NDA Government had lost its shine within 100 days of coming to power.
He said that the ruling party had suffered several jolts in the 3 by-elections held in the last 3 months.
He said that the people across the country, including Gujarat, had voted in favour of the Congress in the by-elections. (INN)
