Unidentified persons vandalised the parked car of senior Congress leader and former MP V Hanumantha Rao at his residence in Amberpet, Hyderabad, in the early hours today.
The assailants reportedly rammed another vehicle into Rao's car around 4 am, and then fled the scene.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at Rao's residence to investigate. The distressed Congress leader urged the authorities to promptly apprehend and strictly punish the culprits, and uncover the motives behind the attack. He lamented that this was the second such attack against him. In a previous attack in April 2022, too, unidentified individuals had vandalised his car by pelting stones, causing significant damage, he claimed.
The police assured Rao of appropriate action, and conducted a thorough examination of the damaged vehicle. They said that they would intensify their efforts to ensure the protection of public figures and prevent such incidents in the future.
