Upa-Sarpanch Killed; Wife, Paramour Suspected
Dharma Naik was killed by the planting of a crude bomb under his bed at his residence in Tirumalagiri (Sagar) mandal of Nalgonda district.

In yet another extra-marital affair turning deadly, upa-sarpanch of Chinthalapalem gram panchayat Dharma Naik, 45, was killed on Monday night allegedly by his wife and her paramour by the planting of a crude bomb under his bed at his residence at Nagarjunapeta thanda under Tirumalagiri (Sagar) mandal of Nalgonda district.
His body parts lay scattered on the premises.
It is learnt that Naik was sleeping in the portico of his house on a country cot. The assailants reportedly placed the crude bomb under his bed and blew it up around midnight when he was fast asleep.
Upon receipt of the information, the police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to the Nagarjuna Sagar area hospital for a post-mortem. A dog squad was pressed into service to track down the killers.
According to Miryalguda Deputy Superintendent of Police Srinivas, the deceased's second wife Sirisha has an illicit affair with another person in the same village. Hurt by the affair, Naik reportedly warned Sirisha of dire consequences if she did not mend her ways. As a result, Sirisha conspired with her lover to physically eliminate her husband.
The incident created a flutter in the district as Naik belonged to the Congress. For fear of reprisals by his followers, a large contingent of police was deployed in the village as a precautionary measure.
On the complaint lodged by the deceased's mother Dwali, Sagar circle inspector Ravinder registered a case and took up investigation.
