Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy today accused BRS leaders, including former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, working president K T Rama Rao and MLA Harish Rao, of orchestrating the murder of social activist Rajalinga Murthy in Bhupalpally.
Speaking at a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Komatireddy claimed that Murthy had earlier filed a lawsuit against several BRS leaders in the Bhupalpally court, alleging irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project's construction.
The minister alleged that BRS leaders conspired to have Murthy killed fearing repercussions.
He added that the murder was carried out under the directions of former BRS MLA Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy, with KCR, KTR and Harish Rao being aware of the plan.
He accused the BRS of resorting to violent political tactics to silence opposition, and said that Murthy was targeted for exposing alleged corruption in the previous BRS administration.
Komatireddy said that the CBCID would investigate the case, with the police already conducting inquiries. He vowed that those responsible would be arrested within 24 hours, and that the case would be tried in a fast-track court to ensure swift justice.
The allegations have intensified the political battle in Telangana, with the BRS yet to respond to the accusations.
