The Srikrishna committee arrived in Hyderabad on Monday. Its agenda today was deliberations over the employment scenario that has been prevalent in the Telangana region since the last 5 years. The panel was visited by various non-government organizations and job associations of Telangana, in Jubilee Hall, on Monday afternoon.
The most prominent issues discussed included how the locals of the Telangana region suffered injustice - Telangana loyalists claimed that top jobs in the state were being handed over to applicants in Group 1 of the Andhra region, while Group 6 applicants from the Telangana region had to make do with clerical jobs.
They also said that out of the 5 lakh jobs that are available in the state, only 2 lakh out are being meted out for those from Telangana, while the remaining 3 lakh was made available for those from the other regions of the state.
The Osmania University's Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) boycotted the Srikrishna panel's meeting. A couple of research scholars from the OU, however, made a presentation to the panel over the rising employment needs in Telangana.
