TSWREIS Student Nandini Breaks Own 100m Hurdles Record
Nandini became the first female athlete to qualify for the finals in the 100m hurdles at the U-20 Junior World Athletics Championships in Cali, Columbia.
Nandini, a student of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS), became the first female athlete to qualify for the finals in the 100m hurdles at the U-20 Junior World Athletics Championships.
Nandini broke her own 100m hurdles national record of 13.58 seconds by clocking 13.34 seconds at the championships in Cali, Columbia.
Minister for Scheduled Caste Development Department Koppula Eshwar and TSWREIS Secretary Ronald Rose congratulated Nandini for her brilliant performance and wished her good luck.
Rose said, "Nandini, a tea seller's daughter, defied extreme financial constraints to make it to the international level. Her life is a source of inspiration to thousands of marginalized girls in the state of Telangana." He expressed hope that Nandini would bring glory to Telangana.
Rose also advised girls, particularly from rural and marginalized backgrounds, to make extra efforts to overcome hardships and inhibitions in their lives and become successful in various fields.
He also thanked the government of Telangana and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for launching 28 sports academies in various sporting disciplines, which he said were providing rigorous training to talented athletes under the guidance of top coaches of national repute.
