SCCL Opens Door For Women Operators In Open Cast Mines
In a significant move, the Singareni Collieries Company has announced opportunities for women to work as operators of heavy machinery in opencast mines.
In a significant move towards women's empowerment in the mining sector, the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has announced opportunities for women employees to work as operators of heavy machinery in opencast mines.
The SCCL has invited applications from women currently serving as 'General Assistants' or 'Badili Workers' for selection to the operator posts.
This marks the first time in SCCL's history that women are being considered for such roles in opencast mining operations.
As per the circular issued to all the mines and departments:
1. The applying women employees must be below 35 years of age 2. The minimum educational qualification is 7th class pass 3. Candidates must be physically fit and possess a valid two-wheeler or four-wheeler driving license (preference will be given to applicants who obtained their license before August 2024)
Eligible employees can submit their applications in the prescribed format to the Mine Manager, Department Head, or General Manager. A committee headed by the General Manager (CPP) will screen the applications and shortlist candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria.
The selected women will undergo training at the Telangana Institute of Driving Education and Skills, Sircilla, in Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) and Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) operations. Upon successful completion of training and the selection test, they will be appointed as 'EP Operator Trainee Category-5', subject to vacancy availability.
