Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) Secretary Guruva Reddy today accused former minister K T Rama Rao and BRS MLC Kavitha of being involved in the irregularities within the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).
Addressing the media, Reddy criticised the cricketing administration of the State over the past decade. He asked how the current HCA president, Jaganmohan Rao - who, he claimed, had no connection with cricket - was elected, and alleged that both KTR and Kavitha were behind his appointment. He urged the State government to investigate the entire HCA election.
Reddy said, "KTR, Kavitha and Sampath Kumar, who served as the HCA election officer, should be investigated immediately. We have evidence to support our allegations. IPS officer Sajjanar participated in the election. How can IAS and IPS officers cast votes in violation of the rules? How can elections be held for 155 cricket associations that are not even active? These elections must be cancelled immediately, and the clubs completely reformed. The ongoing CID investigation into the HCA irregularities has already led to arrests, and that the creation of fake clubs and forged documents has been exposed, proving what we are saying. The HCA Executive Committee must be dissolved."
Reddy also claimed that the BCCI had allocated up to Rs 100 crore annually to the HCA for organising IPL matches, and that nearly Rs 170 crore had been embezzled so far.
"Where did all that money go? Instead, summer camps, which should have been conducted free of cost, were monetised. We will submit the details of the irregularities in the HCA to the CID and ED," he said.
He alleged that the corruption had led to many deserving cricketers being denied recognition. "Due to their poor decisions, rural cricketers have faced injustice. Telangana cricketers are still waiting for opportunities," he lamented.
