Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy alleged that ruling TRS made a mockery of democracy by violating all election norms in the GHMC elections.
Speaking to the media at his Party office, Reddy said that the government had said that all necessary arrangements had been made including posting of officers to help voters if they had any problems at polling booths. But the voters had to face many problems when they found their names missing in the voters' list. There were no officers nor any kind of guidance provided to help the voters, he said.
Reddy alleged that entire police machinery worked at the behest of the TRS government, and intimidated the BJP workers who tried to help voters in finding their booth numbers and their names in the voters' list. The police acted in a partial manner by doing nothing when TRS workers gathered at the polling stations, but chased away BJP workers.
He said that BJP workers were attacked in various areas in the city during polling by the ruling TRS and the MIM workers.
The BJP chief also accused Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy of openly intimidating police personnel on duty.
"The home minister is reported to have told the police that the TRS would be in power for another three years," Kishan Reddy claimed.
Not only were BJP workers attacked in Azampura, Karwan, Charminar and other areas, even Congress leaders were attacked by MIM supporters, the Party which had encouraged MIM earlier, he said.
He added that even a woman BJP candidate Amin Sultana was attacked by MIM workers in the Old City.
