The 10th year anniversary celebrations of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) will be held today in Mahabubnagar. The celebrations, which were earlier scheduled to be held on April 27th and were postponed to April 29th in view of Sathya Sai Baba's demise, is expected to be attended by over 20,000 party activists and leaders.
The event will also be witness to the election of a new Party President. It is largely speculated that current President K Chandrasekhar Rao would be formally elected for the next term.
It is also speculated that this year's anniversary celebrations would be more than just a public meeting. Considering the country's uncertain political situation in wake of the elections for 5 state assemblies, a delegates' conference is also planned on the TRS Formation Day.
Party members have revealed that the agenda of the meeting would cover the 27 proposals and demands of the TRS. The party's demands include the Telengana Bill, Lokpal Bill, Women's Bill, students' scholarships, railway line construction and reservation for backward classes. The TRS leaders will also press the government to a) lift the cases against employees who had participated in Telangana agitation and b) cancel the GO 177.
