Senior Congress leaders, including former minister Nagam Janardhan Reddy, former MLA Vishnuvardhan Reddy, Kotha Jaipal Reddy from Karimnagar and other leaders today joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
BRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao welcomed the three Reddy leaders into the BRS at the Telangana Bhavan with a pink scarves.
Speaking on the occasion, KCR said that Nagam Janardhan Reddy had actively participated in the Telangana movement of 1969 and other agitations for Telangana statehood. He had a history of going to jail during the Telangana statehood movement, and had vast experience in public life, the CM said. "With his joining the BRS, the party's strength will increase drastically, and I am confident that the BRS will win 14 out of the 14 Assembly seats of the combined Mahabubnagar district in the upcoming Assembly elections," KCR said.
Speaking about former MLA Vishnuvardhan Reddy, the CM said that the former's father and former MLA Janardhan Reddy was a very good friend of his, and that he considered Vishnuvardhan a family member.
"Vishnuvardhan has a bright future, and I will take responsibility for his political future. Both BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath and Vishnuvardhan should work together to strengthen the party," KCR said.
The CM claimed that Telangana was making tremendous progress and that its per capita income had increased drastically during the last nine and half years, and that it was the only State in India providing 24-hour power supply to all segments.
He alleged that the Opposition parties were unable to digest the development that had taken place during the BRS regime, and that is why they were resorting to steps like trying to kill his party MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy.
"This kind of murderous politics cannot be tolerated, and no one who commits such violent acts will be spared. We will teach a fitting lesson to them in the upcoming elections," KCR said.
