Telangana Backward Classes Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar, along with MLA Balka Suman and MLC Naradasu Lakshman, today addressed a press conference where he hit out at the BJP state leadership for its comments against the state government.
Kamalakar alleged that the BJP leaders were actively resorting to mudslinging against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his government in an attempt to consolidate the position of the saffron party in Telangana.
"The BJP leaders are trying to stir up trouble in the state by misleading the people for electoral gains. Their actions clearly show that they are threatened by the popularity of the TRS government, and are unable to digest how successful and well-accepted its welfare schemes are," he claimed.
Kamlakar singled out BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, accusing him of indulging in a misinformation campaign against the state government.
(Bandi had recently criticised the TRS government, claiming that it had not been able to live up to the promises it had made to the people of the state, and that it had betrayed the state's poor people and the dalit community. He had also claimed that all the welfare schemes being implemented in the state were those started by the BJP-led union government.)
"It is strange that Bandi Sanjay is today slandering the CM, given that he was able to become an MP only because of KCR's efforts to create Telangana," the minister claimed.
He also accused Bandi of being an inefficient MP, asking him what he had done to develop his constituency Karimnagar, and pooh-poohed him saying that his party and he were not able to even secure aid for the people who had been devastated by the recent floods in the state.
He also warned Bandi to refrain from making false claims against the state government, and said that if he continued, the TRS would retaliate.
"The BJP and its leaders should be cautious before making allegations against the state government and the CM. The TRS leadership will not remain quite if the BJP continues to spread lies about the government, and will take action against the party," Kamalakar said.
Following the BJP's continuing rise in the state, the clash between the saffron party and its primary rival, the TRS, has intensified, especially with both parties gearing up already for the 2022 Assembly elections.
