TRS Distributing Money & Liquor To Voters: Congress To SEC

The Telangana Congress lodged a complaint with the Election Commission that the ruling part was misusing its power to win the municipal elections.
Hyderabad | 21st January 2020
Convener of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) election commission coordination committee G Niranjan on Tuesday lodged a complaint with the State Election Commission alleging that the excise and police departments had failed to prevent the distribution of money and liquor to the voters in the election campaign for the Telangana municipal elections.

He alleged that the TRS was misusing its power and distributing money and liquor to buy the voters and win, and that the police and the excise department officials had failed miserably in preventing the irregularities committed by the ruling party's leaders and its contesting candidates.

He also enclosed some news clippings published by vernacular dailies to support his claims.

He urged the Election Commission to take immediate action on the issue and ensure free and fair elections in the state.
