In a gesture of gratitude, tribal women from Lagacherla village in Kodangal today met BRS working president K T Rama Rao and tied him a rakhi, thanking him for his support during their land struggle.
The group, led by Jyothi from Rotibanda Thanda, described KTR as a God-send, praising his commitment to protecting their rights amid government attempts to seize their agricultural lands, which threatened their livelihoods.
The tribals recalled how Jyothi, who was pregnant at the time, faced police intimidation after her husband's arrest - until KTR stepped in, offering his support.
The women credited him with taking their struggle to Delhi, filing complaints with the National Commission For Scheduled Tribes and the National Human Rights Commission, and helping secure the reversal of the land acquisition.
"He also ensured that all villagers in jail received legal aid, and stood by us until everyone was released," Jyothi said after tying the rakhi.
She added that KTR treated her like a sister, cared for their well-being at every step, and even named her daughter Bhoomi Nayak. She called him "a brother to all women in need across Telangana."
