Triangular Fight In Huzurnagar By-Election
The candidates of all the three main contendors, the TRS, the Congress and the BJP, have been finalized.
Hyderabad | 24th September 2019
It will be a triangular fight for the Huzurnagar Assembly seat with the Congress and the BJP both deciding to fight the TRS strongly in the upcoming by-election.
TRS boss and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao offered the B-Form to the party's candidate Saidi Reddy at Pragathi Bhavan yesterday. Reddy had lost narrowly to Uttam Kumar Reddy in the December 2018 Telangana Assembly elections, and is being repeated by the TRS.
The Congress high command today gave its nod to fielding former MLA Padmavathi, wife of TPCC President N Uttam Kumar Reddy, as its candidate despite TPCC Working President Revanth Reddy's scrapping.
The BJP, too, has finalised its candidate, roping in Srikala Reddy, who has a political background in the united Nalgonda district.
The poll rhetoric is being ratcheted up, too. BJP Telangana President K Laxman said that the people were fed up with the "corruption and feudal rule" of the KCR government. The BJP would win by-election and quickly become an alternative to the TRS family rule, he claimed.
TRS Working President and Minister K T Rama Rao asked the people to teach the Congress a fitting lesson for "failure to develop the district and not addressing the fluoride problem for decades". He also said that the Congress and the BJP were making false charges on irrigation systems and development. He expressed confidence that the people of Nalgonda and Huzurnagar would support the KCR government in the election for welfare and development.
