The ruling TRS has announced M Bhupal Reddy as its candidate for Narayankhed Assembly by-election.
Reddy, who unsuccessfully contested the 2014 general elections from the same segment, got another chance to contest from the same constituency as a TRS candidate.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced Reddy as the TRS candidate on Wednesday.
The by-poll has been necessitated as the sitting Congress MLA died last year.
This time the TRS leadership is exuding confidence that it would win the seat by a handsome majority as its welfare schemes were reaching out to the people.
The Congress is fielding Sanjiva Reddy, son of late Kishta Reddy, for the election. Earlier, the Congress had made a vain bid to win the by-election unanimously - the TRS leadership declined to cooperate and declared its intention to contest.
It is learnt that the Telugu Desam Party and the BJP are planning to jointly field M Vijayapal Reddy as their candidate. The two allies are likely to make a statement in this regard soon as the Election Commission has already announced the schedule for the by-poll slated to be conducted on February 13.
