Senior women leaders of the Telangana Congress have appreciated the valour with which party candidate Palvai Sravanthi is campaigning for the Munugodu by-election.
"Palvai Sravanthi is fighting against the mighty BJP and the powerful TRS in the by-election with total courage and commitment. BJP candidate Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy was trying to intimidate her by using physical attacks as a tool to disturb her campaign. We strongly condemn the attack on Sravanthi by the BJP goons. He is under the wrong impression that women can be threatened by using goons and tactics like stone pelting on convoys. Similarly, TRS candidate Prabhakar Reddy is using huge money and official machinery to decimate her campaigning. However, Sravanthi is continuing her campaigning by displaying courage. She is fighting against the BJP and TRS like Rudrama Devi without showing any signs of fear," Congress MLA Seethakka said while addressing a series of meetings in the Munugode constituency today.
Seethakka said that both the TRS and the BJP were attacking the Congress workers because they were losing control over the election and were scared of the Congress. She said that Sravanthi was receiving overwhelming response from the voters, especially women, and that both the TRS and the BJP had gotten clear signals in the constituency that they were losing the by-election. Out of frustration and fear, they were resorting to physical attacks on the Congress candidate and party workers, Seethakka said.
TPCC Working President & former minister Geetha Reddy also appreciated Palvai Sravanthi for running an effective campaign "amid the threats of physical attacks by the BJP and the TRS leaders".
"Sravanthi is proving to the world that women have enough courage to fight against the most powerful men, who depend on money and muscle power. She is drawing inspiration from great leaders like former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Congress president Sonia Gandhi to stay focused on her campaigning. She is fighting an ideological battle, and will emerge victorious," she said.
Reddy added that Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao should be ashamed of the actions of their party candidates, who were resorting to unethical and violent means to defeat a woman. "Palvai Sravanthi is not alone in her fight. She has the support of all the women of Telangana, especially of the Munugodu constituency. Her victory will become an insignia of women empowerment," she said, and appealed to the voters, especially women, to elect Sravanthi.
