The Ministry of Railways on Wednesday announced that it has decided to halt Travel & Web Service agents of IRCTC from accessing its website.
According to the railway authorities, the decision was taken to get rid of difficulties faced by the general commuters in logging on to the IRCTC website for booking tatkal tickets and ordinary tickets online in the first hour of booking of the day.
The decision is expected to provide enhanced accessibility of the IRCTC website to everyone.
The travel and web services agents of IRCTC will not be allowed to log onto tatkal booking, via e-ticketing, on all days, between 8am and 9am.
Beside this, travel and web agents of IRCTC will not be given access through e-ticketing to trains defined in the system on their respective opening day of Advance Reservation Period (ARP) between 8am and 9am.
The measures are said to have been taken to take care of the interest of the passengers in respect of ticket-booking - both online as well as at the counters - and to make sure that berths may not be cornered by unscrupulous elements.
