After Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that Pragathi Bhavan, the CM's camp office / official residence, would be converted into a "Praja Bhavan" hereon, and that the common people would also have access to it, officials lifted the traffic restrictions around the area today.
Even before the oath-taking ceremony had completed, there was frantic activity in the area, and the work of removing the barricades in front of the building began.
Several bulldozers, tractors and construction workers were seen outside the residence uprooting the iron rods.
During his intense poll campaign, Reddy had said that he would remove the barricades around the building if the Congress came to power.
He also said that after his taking oath as Chief Minister, regular Praja Darbars would be conducted at Pragathi Bhavan with everyone invited. The first one will be at 10 am on December 8.
Pragathi Bhavan was sealed off for almost everyone and had intense security around it when KCR was CM. For the longest time KCR ruled from only there, never even stepping foot into the Secretariat, his official workplace, until after he constructed a new Secretariat (that was inaugurated this year) at a reported cost of Rs 500 crore. The reasons were said to be his believing that the old Secretariat had poor vaastu.
