TPCC Working President and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy today urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to provide him with security.
In a letter he penned to Shah, Reddy reportedly claimed he was under threat because he had been fighting against the incumbent Chief Minister of the state, K Chandrashekar Rao, and his government for quite some time now.
In his letter, he reportedly wrote that he had been fighting against the TRS government for the past six years now, and had objected consistently to their "flawed policies and corruption".
"I have opposed the state government both in the public domain and through PILs at the Telangana High Court. This has caused both the CM and his colleagues to threaten me openly on various occasions. I have apprehensions of serious threats to my life from my political opponents as they are in the government in the state," Reddy claimed.
The MP alleged that the CM had even threatened him openly at the Telangana Assembly on one instance.
He also added that the 24/7 security protection he currently had, provided to him by the state government on the direction of the Ministry of Home Affairs since last year, was just a way for the TRS government to keep him under constant surveillance, and appealed to Shah to provide him with "four plus four gunmen" and an escort vehicle for added protection from the ruling party.
Reddy has indeed been calling out the TRS regime on a number of issues frequently. He recently accused the CM of being
a secret ally of the BJP-led Centre, and also
lashed out at the state government's stance on the issue of the implementation of the three controversial farm Acts.
Last month, the MP even said that the Congress MPs in the state would
bring up the KCR regime's alleged "corruption" and "financial irregularities" in the next Parliament session, seeking a CBI probe into the matter.
