Detain Illegal Pakistanis, Bangladeshis: CM

Revanth Reddy held an emergency meeting on Operation Sindoor and directed the police to detain illegal Pakistan and Bangladesh nationals in the State.
Hyderabad | 7th May 2025
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today held an emergency meeting with officials at the Command Control Centre in the wake of Operation Sindoor, and directed police officials to detain Pakistan and Bangladesh nationals residing illegally in the State.

Chief Minister's Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, DGP Jitender, Home Secretary Ravi Gupta, and other officials from the Army, Police, Disaster Management and related departments were present.

During the meeting, the CM said that a strong message of national support for the Indian Army needed to be conveyed, setting aside all politics. He urged all political parties to exercise restraint during these challenging times.

He also instructed that leaves for employees in departments involved in emergency services be cancelled, and that all personnel remain available to provide assistance. Ministers and officials were also directed to be present and cancel any foreign trips.

Reddy also said that strict action would be taken against government employees who made controversial statements in the media or on the social media.

"Strict action will also be taken against anyone spreading fake news, too. A special cell should be set up to curb misinformation that may cause anxiety or panic among the public," the CM added.

He directed officials to stockpile blood in blood banks and secure emergency medicines, and instructed them to regularly update the information about the availability of beds in private hospitals. He also said that a toll-free, round-the-clock helpline would be set up for the public.

"Officials should strengthen coordination with the Red Cross. Food stocks should also be made adequate," he added.

He also instructed police authorities to connect all CCTV cameras to the Command Control Room in the three Police Commissionerates of Greater Hyderabad, and to also increase vigilance regarding cyber security.

The CM also directed officials to improve surveillance and enhance security at all district headquarters and sensitive locations, and said that security needed to be tightened also at all foreign consulates in Hyderabad and at all IT companies.

He also instructed the Hyderabad police to remain on high alert and, if necessary, engage with Peace Committees. The police also needed to closely monitor the movements of history-sheeters and known criminals, he added.
