Tense moments were witnessed at the residence of the opposition leader of the state Chandrababu Naidu today when a ruling YSR Congress Party MLA Jogi Ramesh tried to lay siege to it.
Ramesh undertook the protest program condemning the comments made by TDP leader Ayyanna Patrudu at the memorial meeting for former minister Kodela Sivaprasada Rao.
Ramesh and many YSRCP workers stood before the main entrance of Naidu's house and raised slogans against Naidu and the TDP.
Angered at this, many TDP workers clashed with the YSRCP workers and raised counter slogans.
A mild stampede also took place in the area, and the car of Jogi Ramesh was damaged in the fracas.
A large number of police were then rushed to the area to control the situation, and resorted to lathi charge to rein in the protestors.
TDP MLA Gadde Rammohan, and party leaders Budda Venkanna and Pattabhi also reached the residence of Naidu and entered into an argument with the YSRCP leaders. Venkanna fell unconscious during the argument.
Pattabhi later alleged that the DGP of the state had personally sent the YSRCP leaders to vandalize the residence of their party president, and that the YSRCP leaders behaved like goons.
Rammohan joined him to allege that the police were routinely terrorizing TDP leaders and workers, and also encouraging YSRCP leaders to attack TDP leaders. He also claimed that the police beat up Venkanna after pushing him to the ground.
Meanwhile, Jogi Ramesh alleged that Naidu had deliberately gotten his party leaders to comment against CM Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. He also alleged that Naidu had instigated his party workers to throw stones at him, and that his car was also damaged by the TDP workers.
