Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today in the Assembly session said that the State government had constructed 140 godowns so far for the storage of farm produce.
When the Opposition members, during the Question Hour, sought to know the number of godowns built, Harish Rao replied that the TRS government took prompt measures to increase storage capacity in all the mandals for preserving farm produce, and built 140 godowns.
"At the directive of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, we are planning to increase the storage capacity and spend Rs. 1024 crores for the same," he said.
Reacting to Komatireddy Venkat Reddy's plea, Rao agreed to set up a market for sweet lime storage in the Nalgonda district. The Minister said that the TRS government allocated 15 acres of irrigation land for the purpose.
