Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today during the recess in the Telangana Assembly session challenged former MP Ponnam Prabhakar that the Congress would not come back to power in the State in the next elections.
Ponnam Prabhakar met the Minister in the Assembly lobbies on Tuesday and urged him to release the Sriram Sagar Project (SRSP) waters to the flood canals in Sangam. The Minister said the flood canal and Sadarmat projects were not under the project's purview and told him that the government would examine the request only after the Congress gave a written undertaking stating that it would not stage agitations when the water decreases at the end.
The Minister assured Prabhakar that the State government would find a permanent solution to the problem.
Not satisfied with the reply, the Congress MP said that his Party would come back to power in 2019 elections, to which Rao replied stating that that was an impossible task since the people had lost all hope in them.
