Telangana Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today said that owing to the efforts of the TRS-led state government, the state was currently witnessing a 'blue revolution'.
Explaining what he meant by this to the Assembly, he said, "The welfare policies targeted at the fishermen community of Telangana that have been introduced by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao have unleashed a blue revolution in the state. The pisciculture sector is flourishing today because of the government's schemes. All the water bodies in Telangana are being used to rear fish. Our government has been releasing funds to support the sector as well."
"We have come to the rescue of the fishermen of the state by distributing free fish seed and are also providing facilities of storage and transportation to them. We have already spent Rs 525 crore for the purchase of mopeds for the purpose," a visibly-chuffed Yadav added.
Outlining the government's future plans to support pisciculture, he said, "Currently, we are planning to increase the number of markets for fish products. We will also launch several mobile outlets this Saturday."
SC Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar's comments, quite akin to Yadav's, suggested that the state was witnessing an ongoing white revolution as well.
He said that the TRS regime had been supplying dairy animals to SC farmers at 60% subsidy in ten districts of the state under a scheme launched in 2018-19.
Replying to the queries of some MLAs, the minister said that the scheme, called the Mini Dairy scheme, had been launched in Suryapet, Warangal, Mulugu, Jagitiyal, Janagaon, Kamareddy, Mahabubabad, Siddipet, Jogulamba, Gadwal and Peddapalli.
"A total of 3,590 farmers have benefited under our Mini Dairy scheme so far. Under it, we not only provide livestock at subsidised prices but also give three quintals of fodder and monthly monetary aid of Rs 4,000 through the district Collectors," he added.
