Telangana Leaders Pay Floral Tributes To Ambedkar

Political leaders across party lines today paid rich tributes to Dr B R Ambedkar on the occasion of his 131st birth anniversary.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao paid floral tributes to a portrait of Dr B R Ambedkar at Pragathi Bhavan.

Former minister Motkupalli Narsimhulu, MP Joginapalli Santosh Kumar, MLCs Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Naveen Rao and Pochampally Srinivas Reddy, MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao, Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Mareddy Srinivas Reddy, CM's Secretary Rajashekhar Reddy, CM's OSD Deshapathi Srinivas, TRS General Secretary Ravula Sravan Kumar Reddy, CMO officials, PROs and others attended the program.

Elsewhere, Social Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar launched the birth anniversary celebrations of Ambedkar on the Tank Bund.

He thanked KCR for spending "crores of rupees" for the welfare of the Scheduled Castes, and said that the dalit families of the State had gained faith in the government due to the Dalit Bandhu scheme.

Later, the minister inspected a photo gallery at the Tank Bund relating to Ambedkar's contribution to the nation, and appreciated the organisers. A prize distribution function was held where cash awards were presented to students who had excelled in essay-writing competitions on the constitution's architect.

Minister Mahmood Ali, State Planning Commission Vice-President Vinod Kumar and others from various dalits associations were present.

Across the districts, various ministers led similar events and ceremonies in honour of the celebrated leader. And prominent opposition leaders including Bandi Sanjay and Revanth Reddy did the same with their party cadre.
