Minister for Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy today asked why former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao was not attending the Assembly sessions.
Reddy on Friday laid the foundation stone for the construction of an Integrated Residential School in Nalgonda. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that during the previous BRS government's tenure KCR had promised that free education from KG to PG would be provided to students from the underprivileged and weaker sections of society but didn't fulfill the promise.
"The BRS government did not fulfill its promises of providing free KG to PG education, but our Congress government is going to implement its own promise of constructing integrated residential schools," Reddy said.
He said that the State government had decided to build a Young India Integrated Residential School complex in each Assembly constituency to provide quality education to SC, ST, BC and minority students, and to bring all residential schools under one umbrella.
"The State government is going to build the integrated residential schools in areas of 20-25 acres with an administrative block, classrooms, hostels, a mess, a library, a stadium, an open air theatre, a swimming pool and all other facilities in each of them. About 2,000 to 2,500 students will reside in these schools, and about 150 teachers will be appointed to each school. We are taking steps to provide better and quality education to rural students through these schools," Reddy added.
