Telangana IT & Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu today announced that the State was set to usher in a digital revolution, with 93 lakh households poised to receive seamless internet connectivity.
Addressing a World Bank delegation at the Secretariat, the minister elaborated on the "transformative" T-Fiber initiative, aimed at equipping every home in the State with high-speed internet access.
As part of a pilot project four villages had already been digitized, showcasing the initiative's potential, the minister said, and claimed that the State would expand the project to ensure universal digital access across all villages within the next three years.
He also said that Telangana had already laid an extensive 32,000-km fibre-optic network, positioning the State at the forefront of India's digital transformation.
The high-level World Bank delegation, led by Vaijanti Desai and Kimberly Johns, visited the four villages - Hajipally (Ranga Reddy district), Maddur (Narayanpet), Sangupet (Sangareddy) and Adavi Srirampur (Peddapalli) - to witness firsthand the impact of the digital connectivity on the local communities.
The event was attended by IT Department Deputy Secretary Bhavesh Mishra, T-Fiber MD Venu Prasad, and senior World Bank representatives Ishira Mehta, Arun Sharma and Siew Sanz Ng.
