Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today announced the inclusion of special funds for the BC community in the upcoming 2017-18 State budget and the setting up of a special commission to deal with BC welfare issues.
At a review meeting held with Minority Welfare Minister Jogu Ramanna and other officials of the ministry at the camp office on Tuesday, the Chief Minister expressed his concerns over the conditions of the BC community in rural areas, and directed the officials to set up a separate commission for the community.
"We need to improve the living standards of BCs through better education infrastructure and protection from hate crimes. Enough funds have been included in the budget for us to start the works. A Cabinet meeting will be held on September 26 to identify locations for the setting up of study circles, residential schools and police commissionerates for BCs in Karimnagar and Nizamabad. The government will use the funds to set up one residential school in each of the 119 Telangana Assembly constituencies. We will also revamp the manner in which study circles perform so as to provide training for competitive examinations, while keeping in the mind the economic conditions of the students," KCR said.
