KCR Launches Backward Class Foreign Studies Scheme

The Telangana Chief Minister signed the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule scholarship, a new scheme to enable backward class students to study abroad.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today signed the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule scholarship, a new scheme to enable backward class students to study abroad.

The scheme will be implemented on par with other schemes including the SC, ST and Minorities Overseas Scholarships scheme.

Under the initiative, Rs. 20 lakhs of financial assistance will be provided to students hailing from the BC community for further education abroad.

This year, the government plans to spend Rs. 60 crores by sending 300 BC / SC / ST students for higher education.
