Telangana Swarajya Parishath convenor M A Mujeeb demanded that the UPA Government table the Telangana Bill in the ongoing session of the Paliament to fulfill Telangana people's demand for self-rule.
Speaking after hoisting the national flag at the TSP office on the occasion of Independence Day, Mujeeb, who is also the President of Mohammedan Parishath - AP Committee, said the centre can avoid further suicides and turmoil in the region by granting statehood to Telangana.
He thanked the BJP for its support to the Telangana Bill.
Mujeeb stated that even after 6 decades of independence, underprivileged sections are yet to enjoy complete freedom, and added that they still crave educational, social, economic and political justice.
According to Mujeeb, the TSP, which is in favour of political reservations in the legislature (50% reservation to BCs, 30% dalits, 10% to Muslims and 10% to Christians) offers him hope.
Apparently, it even promised that the posts of Party President Chief Ministers and even the Prime Minister will be on rotation between BCs, Dalits, EBCs and Minorities.
Mujeeb also spoke at certain length about the condition of farmers in the country, demanding that the government implement the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission, in letter and in spirit.
Regarding corruption, he said the Prime Minister should be brought under the purview of the proposed Lokpal Bill, and that Lokayuktas should be set up at all state headquarters.
Meanwhile, TSP Joint convenor Bheemaiah, while addressing a gathering, said the fight for Telangana, before it was hijacked by KCR, was originally started by its convenor M A Mujeeb and Vice Chairman Ch Yadagiri in early 2001. (INN)
