Congress Approaches SC For AP Bifurcation Promises

The Congress today filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court urging it to direct the Centre to implement the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

Telangana Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Monday filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court urging it to direct the Centre to implement the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

The petitioner's lawyer urged the court to direct the Union government to implement the provisions of the Act immediately.

Reddy included Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and the Union finance, home, HRD and water resources ministries as respondents.

The Supreme Court issued directions to give copies of the petition to the respondents in the case, and adjourned the case for two weeks.
