Telangana Employees Joint Action Committee chairman Swamy Goud on Tuesday sought the support of Telangana Congress Steering Committee convenor K Jana Reddy for the people's general strike scheduled to begin on 6 September.
Talking to media persons, Swamy Goud said that Jana Reddy had responded positively to the suggestion. He also said that Jana Reddy had assured him of a decision after a discussion with the steering committee on Wednesday.
Goud refuted reports that appeared in a section of media that the JAC would postpone the general strike.
Another JAC leader, Vittal, took a serious note of Telugu Desam Telangana Forum members moving a privilege motion and lodging an SC/STs Atrocities case against Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof. M Kodandaram for making inflammatory remarks on Telangana leaders.
Kodandaram and other Telangana leaders would not cow down to such threats, and were ready to go to jail for a Telangana state, Vittal said.
Refuting the TDP T-Forum's allegations that Kodandaram was acting as an agent of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao, he said that Kodandaram was acting as an agent of the people of Telangana people and not of a party or individual. (INN)
