Government employees from Telangana, who are on strike, refused to hold any talks with the state government on Thursday.
Talking to media persons, Telangana Employees' Joint Action Committee president Swamy Goud said that there was no question of holding any discussion with the state government until the Centre announces a clear decision on the formation of Telangana state.
"Our final goal is achieving a Telangana state at any cost," he said.
Swamy Goud appealed to employees not to sign attendance registers fearing disciplinary action from their bosses. He also appealed to other employees, who are settled in Telangana, to express solidarity with the Telangana agitation.
Meanwhile, private schools have decided to shut down on Friday and Saturday.
According to reports, 1,70,000 teachers from the region have been participating in the general strike.
Employee unions in the State Road Transport Corporation will also join the general strike from 19 September.
Telangana Government Doctors Association president Dr. Ramesh warned the government that the doctors would stop emergency services if ESMA is invoked on employees. He also said that the doctors would stop services to elected representatives who are not supporting the Telangana agitation.
GHMC employees, too, have announced their participation in the strike, and have said they would also boycott emergency services from 20 September. (INN)
