Telangana Political JAC chairman Prof. M Kodandaram warned of violence if the centre and state governments fail to take a "favourable" decision on statehood for Telangana.
Addressing a rally organised by the JAC of Telangana Employees, Teachers, Gazetted Officers and Workers, at Gruha Kalpa in Hyderabad on Friday, Kodandaram said that the government ought to be thankful that the Telangana agitation has been peaceful so far.
He warned that if Telangana activists resort to violence, no one from the Seemandhra region would be allowed to stay in the region.
Kodandaram accused Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for misleading the centre over the Telangana agitation. He said that the ongoing agitation should be taken seriously, and it might lead to significant consequences if the centre ignores the currently-peaceful protests.
However, he clarified, the agitation is not against people hailing from Seemandhra region - he said that it was only for separate statehood.
Suspended TDP MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy accused the Congress of delaying the process of formation of Telangana. He asked Congress leaders to take the right decision and support the statehood cause.
He said the present awareness and participation of Telangana people is an opportunity to achieve Telangana, and that this must not be lost.
Employees' JAC chairman Swamy Goud refuted media reports that he was having a secret deal with the CM.
He said such baseless reports were being floated to create differences among Telangana leaders who, he said, have successfully launched a united movement for statehood. (INN)
